In the Nordic areas there are other indications of an ancient common history such as the word "Lapp". "Lapp" is both a name of the Sami people and it is common in place names: Examples of such names in the southern parts of the Nordic countries are in Norway e.g. Lappetjørna in the county of Hordaland, in Finland e.g. Läpp in Etelä-Suomen lääni and Lappa in Urjala, and in Sweden e.g. Lapp in Stockholm County, Lappe in Södermanland and Lappabo in Småland.
The noun "Lapp" is additionally an indication that the Sami people and the Nordic history is related to a larger ancient history of Europe via place names for instance in Greece (e.g. Lappa and Lappei at Crete), in Italy (e.g. Lappano, Lappago, Lappato and Lappola), in United Kingdom (e.g. Lappie, Lappa Valley, and Lappoch Rock east of the Isle of Arran), and in Germany (e.g. Lapp Berg and Lappersdorf). Disse benevnelser finnes i hele det Skandinaviske området som for eksempel i sørlige svenske samiske områder, dagens Norge, hele Finland og i dagens områder av Russland. I kartet over ser man "Joki" og "Jervi" som benevnelser på elv og vann. Områder som før i tiden ble kalt for Lapmarck. Det er mye verdifull historisk informasjon i kart. I det lenkede kartet ser man at "Satago Jerfi" er nevnt i Härjedalen (Pitha Lapmark), og i Ume Lapmarck lengre sør med en annen form "ierfui" eller "iersui" for eksempel "Semi ierfui". Man finner disse benevnelser i dagens områder av Norge, på hele Kola halvøya, i dagens områder av Finland. De finnes så langt øst som i Karelia, mellom Onega og Ladoga brukes både "Joki" og "Jervi". "Joki" and "Jervi" must be the Sami naming? Some will say that this is Finnish, but having studied old maps I do not believe in such a theory. These are used in all Scandinavian countries such as in the southern Swedish Sami areas, in present day Norway and Russia and all over present day Finlamd. "Joki" and "Jervi" are naming of rivers and lakes. Areas that in the past was called Lapmarck. There is much valuable historical information in maps, in particular when they appear to be original (i.e. unchanged). In the linked map you can see that "Satago Jerfi" is mentioned in southern Swedish Lapmarck in Härjedalen (Pitha Lapmark). In Ume Lapmarck further south with another form is used "ierfui" or "iersui" such as "Semi ierfui". These designations are used in areas which are currently Norway, on the Kola Peninsula, in the current areas of Finland. They are found as far east as Karelia between Onega and Ladoga used both "Joki" and "Jervi". Here is a an example of a map by Homann from 1730.
