watermelon radish

I have had people inquire about whether the snails used in my images are pets and no, they are not. The flower bed in my front yard is where they live but they are not pets but pests. Earlier in the summer some of them were relocated to an area with trees and water. Now that I have started the project it is a love/hate relationship, they are great models but they damage my plants. Many people who have said they hate snails have admitted that my images portray them differently than they normally view them. Using back light to illuminate the snail almost makes it seem cute.

 

I am still conflicted about whether we should take the pests in our life and make them seem better by the way we present them. Shouldn't we show them as the pests they are? I continue to grapple with this dilemma.
