Archibald Coates, Wigan pocket watch c 1775
Zoom right in, monster detail. Archibald (and later William) Coates was active watch and clockmaking in Wigan from around 1758 to his death in 1797. My example works perfectly considering it's around 245 years old. It's numbered 1000 so perhaps made 1770-5. Wigan Museum has two in the collections, not complete and non runners I think. They also have a superb longcase by one of the Coates makers.
Nice pointer hand on the adjustment gauge, also superb blued screws.
