Detroit Bridge

Detroit Bridge located at Erie Basin Salford Quays.

Once used as a twin track rail bridge spanning the Manchester Ship Canal between Pier 5 and Trafford Wharf, sitting next to the well known Trafford Road swing bridge.

It was moved "floated" to its present location in 1988 after being redundant to rail traffic for many years.

The bridge underwent a half a million pound renovation in 2005 and now forms a 9 meter wide 80 meter long pedestrian footbridge between Harbour City and the Lowry Centre.
