Mary Magdalen speaks to the Apostles
This is a scan of my reproduction of the full page miniature of Mary Magdalen informing the apostles of Christ's resurrection from the 12th century manuscript known as the St. Alban's Psalter. It was painted in gouche on 300lb Arches hot press watercolour paper and the miniature is about 4 3/4 by 7 inches. Pigments include ultramarine, vermilian tint, gamboge, titanium white, Schminke pearl gold, a permanent yellow, and alizarin crimson (in the purple-mauve tones). It was painted as a gift to their Excellencies Vic Vikingson and Inga the Unfettered on the occasion of their stepping down as Baron and Baroness of the SCA Barony of Borealis and was gifted by Her Highness Issabbella Kendal of Ravensrift at Silverwolf, June 2011 (AS XXXVI). link to original image and commentary: www.abdn.ac.uk/~lib399/english/commentary/page051.shtml
