The Quechua community of Karhui, District of Pitumarca near Cusco, Peru is a centre of traditional textiles. Nearby high mountain area are a centre of alpaca herding, and knitted and woven textiles of high quality are produced in Karhui. The weaver's association participated in a project to document the meanings of their motifs, which resulted in the book shown here. The weaving is sheep's wool and alpaca, dyed with natural dyes. The hat is knitted in natural tones of alpaca wool.
