Synthetic Fluorescent Mineral: Calcium Sulfide - UVc

From the basement lab comes this sample of calcium sulfide activated with manganese. Calcium carbonate was heated with an equal amount of sulfur using an alcohol burner. NaCl and KCl were added as fluxes. A very small amount of manganese chloride was added to provide the activator.

CaS:Mn2+ (FL+PHOS Orange >UVabc!)
