Chinese Scheelite on Fluorite - PHOS

 

From the Dong Shan Tungsten Mine in Dong Shan, Hunan Province, China comes this 5" wide specimen.

Note the dim red fluorescence of the scheelite under UVb. This may be due to small traces of europium.

 

Contains:

Fluorite (FL Blue >UVab)

Scheelite (FL Red,Bluish White >UVb,c)

 

Shown in phosphorescent state after exposure to UVabc light.

 

Key:

WL = White light (halogen + LED)

FL = Fluoresces

PHOS = Phosphorescent

Blue = 450nm,

UVa = 368nm (LW), UVb = 311nm (MW), UVc = 254nm (SW)
