Synthetic Fluorescent Mineral Experiment: ZnAl655:Mn from ZnSO4 - UVc

FOV: 3" wide.

 

In an aluminum tray aluminum sulfate {3 ml}, zinc sulfate heptahydrate {1 ml} and MnSO4 ssol {1 drp} were combined with a few drops of water.

 

The sample was then heated with a MAPP torch until the substance boiled. Heating continued until it glowed with a bright green/orange incandescent light.
