Rockyard Feldspar: Microcline (?) - UVc

 

From the local rockyard comes this 7" wide specimen of feldspar var. microcline (?) with quartz inclusions. It's red fluorescence is activated by Fe3+ replacing Al3+.

 

Contains:

Feldspar: (FL Deep red >UVc)

 

Shown under UVc light.

No detectable phosphorescence.

Blue = 450nm,

UVa = 368nm (LW), UVb = 311nm (MW), UVc = 254nm (SW)
