Luminescence Alchemy: "Blue-greenlite" - UVc

FOV: 2.5" wide.

Strontium sulfide made by heating strontium carbonate with hardware store sulfur in molten salt (aka "greenlite"). Copper (~0.1% mol), sodium (~1% mol) and lead (~0.01% mol) were added as activators

Source:

Sr......SrCO3 (Alfa Aesar)

S.......Sulfur fungicide (Hardware store)

Cu......CuSO4*5H2O (HST)

Na......NaHCO3 (A&H Baking Soda)

Pb......Pb(NO3)2 (HST)

NaCl....Mixing salt (Hardware store)

Suspected phosphor:

SrS:Cu+,Na+,Pb2+ (FL+PHOS! Blue,Green >UVa,bc)

Shown under UVc light.

Key:

WL = White light (halogen + LED)

FL = Fluoresces

PHOS = Phosporescent

UVa = 368nm (LW), UVb = 311nm (MW), UVc = 254nm (SW)

'>' = "stimulated by:", '!' = "bright", '~' = "dim"
