Luminescence Alchemy: "Bluelite" - WL

Calcium sulfide made by heating calcium carbonate with hardware store sulfur in molten salt. Copper (~0.1% mol) and sodium (~1% mol) were added as activators. - "Bluelite"

 

Source:

Ca......CaCO3 (prepared from CaCl2 and Na2CO3)

S.......Sulfur fungicide (Hardware store)

Cu......CuSO4*5H2O (HST)

Na......NaHCO3 (A&H Baking Soda)

NaCl....Mixing salt (Hardware store)

 

Suspected phosphor:

CaS:Cu+,Na+ (FL Blue,pink >UVab,c)

 

Shown under white light.

FL = Fluoresces

PHOS = Phosporescent

UVa = 368nm (LW), UVb = 311nm (MW), UVc = 254nm (SW)
