Bellbird on a grevillea
Male Anthornis melanura (Bellbird, korimako) feeding on what must be the Grevillea cultivar 'copper rocket' (or if not, then something very similar) in the Christchurch Botanic Gardens, New Zealand.
I spotted this tree some years back and theorised it would be popular with the waxeyes and bellbirds - though I kept forgetting about it, and always rediscovering it after dusk - so it was never more than an educated guess. The day before I captured this, when it was a little too windy for flowers, I remembered to check it out enroute to somewhere else. Not only was I able to confirm both interactions were indeed happening, but I got some photos I was happy with too.
