The Latin inscription below this and the neighbouring plate reads as follows:

 

An(no) Dom(inice) Inc(arnationis) MXV B(ernwardus) Ep(iscopus), Div(e) Mem(orie), has valvas fusiles, //

in facie(m) Angelici Te(m)pli ob monim(en)t(um) sui fec(it) suspendi.

 

Translation:

"In the year of the Lord's incarnation 1015 (AD), bishop Bernwardus - in holy memory -

caused this cast doors to be raised in front of his angelic temple as a monument (memorial)"
