Raffaellino del Garbo - Portrait of a man (1500)

Raffaellino del Garbo (1466/70-1524)

Portrait of a man (1500)

London, National Gallery

high resolution image

This was painted under the influence of both Botticelli and Filippino Lippi, probably in Florence in the 1490s.

The painting's arched format, curtains and ledge reinforce the idea that the sitter is standing at a window - an idea inspired by earlier Netherlandish portraiture.
