Living Color Photography
Snow Drift in Early Morning Sunlight
I got this shot this morning as the sun was rising.
I used a polarizer and under exposed the shot by quite a bit.
initially I had a lot of color to work with, but my detail was lacking. Especially along the top of the snow bank.
I played around in LR and was able to get quite a bit more detail to come out.
It has a slight crop along the bottom and sides although for a print I would probably use the whole image. Just thought for the web it looked better with the crop.
Also I enhanced the color. Particularly the luminosity of orange and red. For some reason those two adjustments really seemed to bring out the details even in the shadows along the top of the bank.
Also the polarizer really seemed to help make the sky a vivid blue.
The tiny white specs are tiny sparkles from the sunshine on the snow. In full size they are a little more obvious.
