From Mah-Jong to Vamlingbolaget
Different patterns from 1968 to 2018.
In 1966, the clothing brand Mah-Jong was founded by Helena Henschen, Veronica Nygren and Kristina Torsson. The purpose was to create beautiful clothes for ordinary people, in timeless patterns. All production took place in Sweden.
The game Mah-Jong gave name to the collection since the garments could be combined in different ways, just like the tiles in the game.
After Mah-Jong closed down, Kristina Torsson founded Vamlingbolaget in 1983, where she has since worked with the design and sale of clothing in a similar style. Vamlingbolaget operates in the village Vamlingbo on the Swedish island Gotland. From an exhibition at Vandalorum Art Hall called "From Mah-Jong to Vamlingbo".
