World Heritage: Petra XVIII

The Roman Colonnaded Street, built by the Roman's 100-200 AD. Petra, the capital city of the Nabateans, is half-built, half-carved into the rock. It became during Hellenistic and Roman times a major caravan centre for the incense of Arabia, the silks of China and the spices of India.

 

The tomb and temple city was voted to be one of the new seven wonders of the world in 2007.
