The Tree of Life in the Cathedral
You can imagine that the Cathedral is a garden. The pillars are the tree trunks and the arches are the branches. Those who made the Cathedral tried to make a picture of Paradise in rocks.
In 1997, a Tree of Life in silver, gold and glass was planted in the Cathedral. It was made by artist Carl Gustav Jahnsson, silver smith Jan Ostwald and architect Torbjörn Vogt.
To remind us that the tree belongs to all people, it has 153 golden leaves. There is an ancient thought which tell us that there are 153 peoples on earth.
The Tree of Life also carries fruits which give us a healthy soul and eternal life. There are nine different fruits with different qualities: Love, Joy, Humbleness, Faithfulness, Kindness, Peace, Goodness, Self-control and Patience.
