In Memory of Nori (Nora Mészöly)
Today I lost a dear Flickr and Facebook friend. For eight years we commented on each others photos, Flickr-mailed each other, and were part of a group of seven gals on Facebook, spread throughout the world, who have a chat group and have been there for each other through thick and thin. She always had a kind word and could be so funny.
She showed everybody her wonderful city, Budapest, and was able to make us feel as if we have traveled there. She shared her extensive collection of family photos with us and let us know these people throughout many years of her family history. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandma. She was beautiful and had tremendous knowledge of art, music, books, and architecture. Seeing photos of some of the recipes she's posted, she was a fabulous cook and I plan to make one of her recipes in her memory.
This photo of the Tualatin River, taken in 1911 in Oregon, is lacking one thing; it's serene and beautiful, but it doesn't express the color and life that was Nori. She fought a brave battle with her second bout of cancer, but it won out in the end.
I'll miss you Nori and will carry you in my heart.
