Daft bicycle chap
01 Rusty Raleigh from '49
After a glut of turning up good bikes that are to nice & original to play with or enjoy, this rough old junker shows up.
It's a 28" wheeled 1949 Raleigh DL1 3 speed with Lycett saddle - Large for a titchy chap like me, but I can just about ride it without dislocating anything - or so I've convinced myself. Still works alright apart from the seized brakes***.
Although weathered badly, this hasn't been repainted before, with much of it's original gold & red striping still intact., pitting to all tubes will take a lot of tedious lead 'body-solder' to hide (Structual integrity .... who needs ya?!)
Has it's original lights & an un-tinkered with original wiring loom, which is rare to find. On the other hand, it has pipe lagging for handlebar grips, & no headset bearings at all!
*** = These actually had to be cut off in the end!
