York Saloon at King's Lynn
A surprise visitor to King's Lynn on October 6th 1982 was this departmental dmu set which has 'York Saloon' on a board in the front window.
Originally a Gloucester RC&W Class 100 twin set (E56101 + E51116) withdrawn from Norwich depot in October 1972, it was converted for departmental use as an inspection saloon and renumbered as TDB975539 & 975349. I seem to also recall a set like this being named the 'Stourton Saloon', which I gather was the ER General Manager's Saloon.
I wonder if anyone can put a name to the BR member of platform staff shown here ?
