08 137 Spalding

On a very overcast November 16th 1981, BR Class 08 shunter 08137 stands looking rather forlorn in the yard adjacent to Spalding station. The vanfits behind the loco would have been used for sugar beet traffic. The Spalding beet factory closed in 1989

This locomotive began its life on the Scottish Region in December 1955, moving to Lincoln in November 1968. It remained on Lincoln's books until withdrawal came a year after this picture was taken in November 1982. Its final journey was from Doncaster to Swindon for breaking up which occurred in 1985.
