Dry Mares Released / Pine Nuts Range, Nevada / 11/25/2010. They have been given the birth control drug, PZP, a two year vaccine which is still in the experimental stages. I hope they will not experience any bad side effects.
In a snafu, 22 foals were taken to a BLM facility, that were promised to be released after all processing was completed on their mothers, in a temporary corral. The entire band was slated to be released, which would include the foals! Local BLM got it fixed, where as the wet mares were sent to the facility to reunite with their foals, and the united pairs will be released again on this , their home range, as early as next Monday. The mares seen here, had no babies, and are referred to as the dry mares.
The one exiting now, looks like a carousel horse to me! Oh my gosh, look at her ears!!!
It was really nice to see them set free, then running together in the distant hills toward their home. Let Freedom Ring!
