Pine Grosbeaks

While it is not yet winter, officially, this has been a truly exceptional season for viewing irruptive winter finches in southern Ontario. Such events occur when cone/seed crops fail in the boreal forests to the north. You can read more about this phenomenon here. This shot was taken through our kitchen window.
