Falling or rising?

The lighting during my trip to the UW Madison Arboretum was pretty blah, and wind was making macro shots really difficult, but I did manage to find a few trees that were beautiful enough to convince me to stand still and wait for respites of calm wind.

 

I really like the backlighting and shape of the middle leaf. Is it falling or preparing to take flight?
