Towering at 8 1/2 feet, armoires like this can only be found in grand houses owned by wealthy hacienderos. Found in the main bedroom to store and keep neatly folded clothes and other valuables, the pediment crown of this Gothic Revival piece has bolection moldings decorated with beads and reels, bulbous finials at the corners, acanthus flanges, and topped by pierced foliated and flowering scrolls that overflow at the center with large bulbous campanilla or bellflowers and acanthus leaves they appear to be protuberating as they dangle from the crown. Cabinet doors and sides have confirming double lancet arches appliqued all around with bead and reel moldings, and at the spandrels are leafy rose flowers in deep relief and are exceptionally palpable. Similar bolection moldings below the doors frame the large keyholed drawer with iron bail pull, above a secret drawer disguised as a simple faschia, and the block feet supports. Inside are ample shelvings and a pair of smaller drawers. The crown, main carcase, and the bottom drawers can be detached for portability.
