Flying over the Nazca Lines, Nazca Desert, Peru, June 2009.

The famous Nazca lines was probably created by the Nazca Culture 400 - 650 AD. Some of the geoglyphs may date as far back as 200 BC. The geolyphs are made on a desert plain by digging shallow trenches The lines consist of geometric figures and large figures depicting fauna and flora. The largest of the animal figures is a pelican 285 m long.

Although lots of explanations are suggested for their purpose, research still go on.
