North Star

The 1925 replica of the 1837 Broad Gauge original on it's lofty perch in Swindon's A shop on 23 September 1951. Despite being put aside in 1871, the original (albeit rebuilt) had been scrapped in 1906. It now resides at the GWR museum in the town.

 

Scanned from a 6x6cm size negative taken by the late John Mervyn Mason, now in my collection.
