Bold Colliery locomotive shed on a grim 23 March 1977. Two steam locomotives were present at that time, both Hunslet 0.6.0ST Austerities. Outside, behind the Grafton crane was ALISON, 3163/44, rebuilt later as 3885/64 whilst inside the shed was WHISTON, 3694/50. Both were subsequently preserved. The working engine here was a diesel, North British 0.4.0DH 27735/58.
Bold Colliery, just north of St Helens Junction station, closed in 1985.
