Misnomer

A train of 4-LAV units, 2931 leading, calls at Haywards Heath on a Brighton to Victoria (via Redhill) semi-fast working on 26 March 1967. Despite the designation '4-LAV', the provision of a toilet was in one coach only, which would be fine, except that the train was non-corridor..... Most of these units were withdrawn in 1968, presumably replaced by 4-CIGs, which would have pleased the more incontinent passengers.

2931 carries a full yellow front on green livery, not a happy combination. The station name-board is very 'boxy' in appearance; would it have been illuminated?

Scanned from a 6x4.5cm size negative in my collection, photographer unknown.
