FilmBlog | Terminator Salvation

Well, here it is. The sequel nobody wants by the Director nobody asked for.

But despite the eye-rollingness of hearing of yet another Terminator movie, there may be hope on the horizon. Despite a history of films that were, frankly, crap, director Joseph McGinty Nichol has managed to convince Christian Bale to sign on for this latest feature for not just one movie, but three. Nichol has done us a favour by doing away with the dreary prissy-nature that Terminator 3 carried with it and has taken a leaf out of J. J. Abrams' book with a gritty action sequal set in the years following judgement day. At least we can be sure it wont be the same movie told a different way for the fourth time. Bale plays a grown-up John Connor who leads the resistance against the machines after Judgement Day. We are promised (and I have seen screenies) that the T600 (An eight foot tall terminator designed to kill anything and everything) will feature prominently throughout this movie.

Also signed on for this movie are Anton Yelchin, who is set to play a young Kyle Reese (as well as a young Pavel Chekov in the December release of J. J. Abrams' Star Trek) and Sam Worthington (also set for the lead role in the 2009 release of Avatar) as the mysterious Marcus Wright as well as Bodybuilder Roland Kickinger to play the first T800. While Arnie decided not to sign up to this movie, many believe this might actually be doing the franchise a favour.

Critics, quite rightly, don't hold out much hope for this film. But from what we've been allowed to see so far it would appear that Terminator Salvation may be the Terminator Franchises Salvation.

To celebrate...I made this wallpaper as wel as a few others
