Aussie Cossie.

Wombats are an Australian native marsupial (raise their young in pouches) that are widespread in several states. I have placed a Wiki link below that outlines the different types and their backgrounds. In some rural areas, they are seen as a nuisance to farmers for their habit of digging large holes. In addition, thousands are killed by vehicles every year.....the sad result of which we have seen personally during our rural drives in southern states.

Happily we have not been responsible for any of their demises. This one was photographed last year at the Rockhampton Zoo. It's actually good to see one in the daytime as they are primarily nocturnal and are snoozing during daylight hours.
