An eyeful.
Today, I have a few more shots from the Brisbane Show, Exhibition or "Ekka" as Brisbane and Queensland people love to call it that runs for nine days and ends this Sunday. Shows tend to get into peoples' DNA and ours certainly has, this year with what appears to be the biggest crowds in many years despite the reduction in exhibits through shrinkflation and the sale of showgrounds land for other purposes. I guess it's all worth a bit as the grounds are really not far from the centre of the city in the inner city suburb of Bowen Hills. Where once there was a whole pavilion of these wonderfully fascinating District exhibits, this year these were the main two.
But look closely at the work that has gone into these and all the large variety of fruit, vegetables and other products. How I miss the full range of these that covered not only districts and groups but also different agricultural products. Looks like I just caught someone replacing the "A" in Swagman! The "pictures" at the back of the Caboolture exhibit on the right are made from various grains etc.
Today is another journey down memory lane and a lament for me. As I grow older, this is probably our last "Ekka" because it just ain't what it used to be and we are getting too old to move with the times!
