Warrumbungle Wonder
The Warrumbungle National Park is only about 50 kilometres west of Coonabarabran in New South Wales. It is Australia's only Dark Sky Park and being the sight of the Siding Springs Observatory, a perfect place for clear sky star and solar system gazing. It also has impressive geography and animal and bird life.
I believe that sharp pointed rock in the distance which is well into the park and supported by hiking trails is called the Breadknife. Sadly, we had limited time, in Australia to have a good look because of the distances you really do have to slow down and spend more time.
It was freezing cold up on that outlook beside the observatory, but if you are down that way, don't miss it.
