The Pez Dispenser
What? Some of you, like me, may be devotees of the 1990's (is it that long ago?) great, and probably the best comedy show ever, Seinfeld. Mind you, it was unabashedly different, irreverent but closer to home than many of us may be prepared to admit. And supposedly a "show about nothing".
One episode in Season 3 was entitled "The Pez Dispenser" and in keeping with the theme of the show, any episode that appeared to surround a thing as inconsequential as a Pez Dispenser was indeed a "show about nothing".
But being the innocent I was and still am, I really had no idea what a Pez Dispenser was. Certainly, at the time they seemed to have no profile at all in Australia. I was quite surprised to find this shop (despite it being too early to be open) on the Mooloolaba Wharf on the Sunshine Coast which seemed to be full of the things. For those who are devotees or collectors of real life Pez Dispensers, this is your shop as you can see. It's all about the dispenser but they do hold and dispense lollies (or should we say, for this description, candy!)
It seems they are really Austrian but have world wide appeal and there are many collectors. Their history is long and fascinating for those interested and as usual, the link below will take you to the full story.
