How many criteria?

Would someone like to guess how many hotels, particularly in country Australia are called the Criterion. I have no idea why this rather boring name is so popular but googling it will give you an idea. Right up there with the Commercial, Railway and Imperial and there are no doubt others!

This one is smack bang in the middle of the sugar cane growing town of South Johnstone south west of Innisfail. With two other local sugar mills permanently closed (Mourilyan and Goondi), the mill in this town is not only the only one left in this district but also very busy. Of course, the day we drove past was boiler and maintenance day and everything including trains doing harvested cane deliveries were at full stop. We seemed to find this more frequently this trip than ever before. Very frustrating!

If you look closely at the very wet road in the foreground, you can see the railway tracks here pass down the main street on the way to the mill and in that sense when it is operating at full blast this is a busy place and a great spot to get a cane train shot. Maybe have a drink and wait out the next train.

Here is a shot from a previous visit.

PS as I have not tagged this Queensland railways nor put it in such a group, I have no idea how it got into this group anyway.
