Sazae-san Family Statue in Front of Tokyu Sakura-shinmachi Station
These statues are Sazae-san family, well-known comic characters in Japan.
Since Machiko Hasegawa, the creator of the comic, lived in Sakura-shinmachi, they became the mascot of the town. In 2012 March, their statues were installed at four spots in the town. This spot is one of them.
Namihei, the leftmost statue, is known for the one hair left at the top of his head. After I took this photo, someone removed the hair. The hair was re-installed, and removed again. The incident made national news.
