Stopped Escalators in Yokohama Subway Center-kita Station
Center-kita Station exists nearby a river, so the ground level is much lower than the platform. This photo shows the staircase between ground level and the platform. It is only the lower half. If you look at closely, you will find another staircase beyond this staircase.
When I visited the station, the escalator was stopped to save power. Going up or down these long stairs can be a hard work for some people. This photo was taken in July 2011, when many escalators were already working. Maybe some escalators or elevators were active somewhere in this station. I think there should be some sign to tell their location.
