Tama Electric Vehicle

After WWII finishes, manufacturing aircrafts was prohibited in Japan. Tachikawa Aircraft Company Ltd. had to change into an automobile company. Since fuel availability was not good in Japan those days, they designed an electric vehicle.

This picture shows their first product, which appeared in 1947. It was named “Tama Electric Vehicle” after the location of the company “Kita-tama-gun.”

Eventually, the company became Prince Motor Company, then, it was merged into Nissan in 1966. Now, this car is displayed at the gallery in Nissan Headquarters Office Building in Yokohama.
