Odakyu 5000 series’ body is slightly wider, with the bottom narrowed so as not to hit the platform. This type of design is often used by JR. Odakyu had not used it for a while after 8000 series. This is because the widened body does not fit within the Tokyo Metro restrictions, so it cannot be used for cars that may enter Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line.
