Construction Site of Another Ring Road No.5 Bypass
The southern end of a bypass to avoid the congested area of Ikebukuro Station is planned to be built here. The bypass to avoid Shinjuku Station was completed in December 2022, but this one will be completed in 2028. Not much has changed since the photo in “Renewed Wall along Meiji-dori”, taken in May 2017.
This photo shows an object placed inside the fenced area. After some googling, I have found that it is the parapet of the old Mejiro Bridge, which had been preserved in front of Mejiro Station because of its historical value. It was moved in 2021 due to sidewalk construction work. It is probably being kept here temporarily until its destination is decided.
