Railroad crossings at the end of a station are often closed while a train is stopping at the station. As the result, such crossings tend to be closed for longer periods. In 2021, this crossing was closed for 55 minutes per hour in weekday mornings.
It is reported JR East installed “smart crossing” at similar crossings at a few other stations of Nanbu Line. With a smart crossing, the starting time of warning is delayed for a slow train. JR East says installing “smart crossing” at Kashimada is difficult because the crossing is too close to the station.
