Keio 7000 Series Train at Chitose-karasuyama No.4 Railroad Crossing 5

In 2020, some rumors said Keio 7000 series trains would not retire so soon because Keio renewed them in 2000’s. However, the situation was changed by incidents happened since then. In 2021, there was an assault on a train. In 2022, a man with a sickle tried to enter Hachioji Station. Keio decided to improve safeties in the trains, and the problem that arose was that 7000 series were operated as a 10-car train consisting of a 6-car train and a 4-car train: Since there is no door between the cars at the connection point of the two trains, passengers cannot escape to the next car. Keio decided to replace 7000 series with 10-car trains.

The four-car train in this photo, the one with number “7806,” retired in 2023 September.
