JR East has issued some technical papers concerning the work here. The titles of the documents are interesting. Technically, they dig a road tunnel (Futaba Tunnel) under the railroad, but the name of the project is “Sumiyoshi Bridge above a Road.” Another interesting point is that they call this spot “inside Osaki Station.” This spot is part of the station on paper though the main part of Osaki Station is 1km away.
