JHFC Senju Hydrogen Station

JHFC means “Japan Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Demonstration Project.” Automobile companies and energy companies are participating in the project. Automobile companies provide fuel cell vehicles, and energy companies provide hydrogen stations.

Currently there are eleven hydrogen stations in Japan. The type of hydrogen station varies. Some stations use hydrogen generated from petroleum, some stations use hydrogen generated from electrolysis of water. Hydrogen is provided as high pressure gas, and there is a hydrogen station that can provide liquid hydrogen.

The station in this photo is Senju Hydrogen Station. It provides hydrogen generated from town gas. It is located in a site of Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. The gas tanks beyond the station are owned by the company.
