Hyakunin Isshu No.88 of Yoga Promenade

The poet is Koka-mon’in-no Betto. The name means she was the chief of ladies-in-waiting of Koka-mon’in, the empress of Emperor Sutoku.

The poem was created under the given title of “love on a journey.” With many double-meaning words, the poem depicts a woman who falls in love for the rest of her life after a one-night stand as well as a sight of reed field and signs of a water channel in the marsh in Naniwa.
