Hyakunin Isshu No.87 of Yoga Promenade

The poet is Jakuren Hoshi. Hoshi means he was a priest. Jakuren is his name as a priest. Before he became a priest, his name was Fujiwara-no Sadanaga. He is a nephew of Fujiwara-no Toshinari, the poet No.83.

The poem depicts mist rising from a coniferous forest after a rain shower in an autumn dusk. Many poems depicting autumn are about autumn leaves, but this one is different.
