Hyakunin Isshu No.74 of Yoga Promenade

The poet is Minamoto-no Toshiyori. He is a son of the poet No.71, Minamoto-no Tsunenobu.

 

The poem was composed at a meeting where members created poems on the theme of “The love that I prayed for but never came true.” The poem refers Hatsuse in Nara which is known for a temple for fulfilling love, and wind blowing down from mountains. In the poem, the author laments that the wind became even colder, and the attitude of his beloved also became colder to him after he prayed at the temple.
