E131 series has a door at the head and the tail. The doors are used on Sotobo Line and Uchibo Line. E131 series are two-car trains on those lines. It can make four-car trains by connecting two E131 series. The doors at the end of the train make a path for passengers to move to the next train. It is said that six-car operation is also possible, but I have not found any record of six-car train operation at Uchibo Line or Sotobo Line.
On Sagami Line, E131 series has four cars, and there is no plan to connect two trains. But they still have the door at the end.
